The FBI now keeps a list of over 900,000 names belonging to known or suspected terrorists, the American Civil Liberties Union said today.

If that number is accurate, it would be an all-time high, exponentially more than the 100,000 names on the list several years ago. But the number needs to be taken with a grain of salt: after all, the ACLU doesn't keep the list, the FBI does, and the bureau doesn't generally like to talk about it. (Indeed, the FBI has not yet responded to a request for comment for this post.)

But if the ACLU's figure isn't accurate, it's also unlikely to be off by that much. Last September, the ACLU notes, the Department of Justice's Inspector General reported the FBI watch list was at 700,000 names, and growing at 20,000 names per month.

The ACLU says they "extrapolated" from those figures to determine the list's current size. ACLU's Barry Steinhardt added that the group had spoken privately with people familiar with the watch list, who told them the 900,000 figure was not outlandish.

Newly-released records obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request contradict the 9/11 Commission’s report on the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and raise fresh questions about the role of Saudi government officials in connection to the hijackers.

The nearly 300 pages of a Federal Bureau of Investigation timeline used by the 9/11 Commission as the basis for many of its findings were acquired through a FOIA request filed by Kevin Fenton, a 26 year old translator from the Czech Republic. The FBI released the 298-page “hijacker timeline” Feb. 4.

BETRAYED AGAIN: How Bush betrays the 9/11 first responders once more.

It’s amazing. Just when you think there are no new depths of shamelessness and betrayal of trust to which the Bush administration can sink, they manage to sink deeper into unchartered infamy. Hold on now, I’m not even mad yet. I’m talking about the seventy seven percent cut in the medical assistance for 9/11 first responders in the current federal budget. Gravely ill firemen, police, and other workers who labored at that site, workers who have come down with life threatening cancers and respiratory illnesses linked to their heroic efforts at ground zero are being shafted once again.

In the name of full disclosure, I am not writing this from some disinterested “good citizen” viewpoint. I have a young nephew, John McNamarra, a heroic fireman who worked as a first responder at that site and who later volunteered for rescue work after Katrina in New Orleans. For the past few years he has been suffering from various cancers resulting from that work for which he is currently under treatment at Sloan Kettering. Last weekend he called me to talk about the government’s new betrayal. As the father of a one year old son, Jack, John is fighting the battle of his life, and there is no godly reason why men such as John have to fight the government as well for proper medical care and compensation. One pill – yes one small pill that reduces the agonizing nausea of his chemotherapy costs as much as a thousand dollars. Okay, I can rail about the greedy drug companies and their obscene profits, but my first concern is our government’s ingratitude and cruelty, something which the congress must address and remedy to help all these men and women.

World Trade Center first responders and their families are heading to D.C. to continue fighting for health care.

Nearly 200 first responders are heading to Capitol Hill to hold a rally Tuesday protesting major cuts to their health care.

They say the government slashed the budget for 9/11 health care from $108 million to $25 million for the next fiscal year. The workers say they deserve better care after exposing themselves to toxic air.

"We're not going to stand for being cut out of the budget by 77 percent,” said John Feal, founder of the Fealgood Foundation. “It's not adequate and it’s an insult.”

“If I got hurt in Afghanistan, my family and I would be covered, but since I got hurt in Manhattan we're not,” said WTC construction worker Thomas Magee.

During a recent meeting with 9/11 first responders, a group of sick and dying emergency workers who responded to the September 11, 2001 attacks, presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich (D) promised to help the group schedule a hearing with the Subcommittee on Domestic Policy, of which he is Chairman. The hearings will advance the investigation of many health concerns that have resulted from the collapse of the Twin Towers in 2001.

Kucinich, who was confronted by the group in early January, met with the responders in order to discuss the negative health effects that were caused from contact and inhalation of the pulverized concrete and metals from the collapse of the Twin Towers.

“It is one thing to hear about it in the abstract, it is another thing to go and talk to people," Kucinich said. "Because someone came up to me and asked for help, my heart was open.”

The Congressman addressed not only concerns about the health of first responders, but also seeking justice in the deadly cover-up surrounding ground zero's toxic dust.

“We’ll get to the bottom of that. We’ll seek all the relevant information to bring it to the committee’s attention. That’s not going to go unchallenged,” Kucinich told the Alex Jones Show.

After hearing dozens of testimonials from sick and dying 9/11 First Responders during the meeting, Kucinich promised to travel to Washington with the group in order to help schedule a meeting with the Subcommittee on Domestic Policy. The subcommittee is the main investigative body for government oversight and reform.

“I’m not afraid to ask questions about 9/11. I’m going to continue to stand up and speak out; we are loosing the country. I can’t do it alone; I need help.”

Six years after the events of September 11, 2001, many of the sick and dying responders have long waited for such a Congressional investigation. The group also seeks medical and financial aid from the federal government.

“I want to bring it in front of the committee; I do have a committee that has a good reach,” said Kucinich.

While Kucinich plans to address the ongoing environmental concerns from the events of 9/11, Kucinich is also aware of the political threats to his seat in Congress. He made issue of what he called the attack to defeat him in his re-election bid.

“I can’t be bought. And I can’t be bossed. I’m here to protect the public interest,” said Kucinich.

If Kucinich does loose his seat in Congress, he will not preside over the 9/11 health hearings. For this reason, he fears his is in the fight of his life.

“Corporate Cleveland is unleashing millions of dollars to try to knock me out of office. I’ve got millions being poured into this race against me. People think by trying to knock me out of Congress that they are going to cause me to be quiet,” said Kucinich.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich revealed that he is initiating an investigation the insider trading that took place leading up to 9/11, particularly in regards to put options placed on American Airlines and United Airlines stock.

Kucinich said that he had personal questions about the implications insider trading had.
"I've indicated a long-standing interest in gathering information and trying to get to the bottom of exactly what happened with respect to all the stock activity that took place preceding 9/11." Kucinich said.

Kucinich said it was the bizarre record-level put options that caught his attention initially. The odd trades heavily indicate prior knowledge of the September 11 attacks and have raised a number of questions that Kucinich hopes to probe.

"First of all, I'm not afraid to ask questions about 9/11," Kucinich told the Alex Jones Show.
"From my own personal standpoint, I've had long-standing questions about why this volume, why those airlines, why that time, who made the buys, why did they buy them, who told them to make the buys, who was involved? There are questions there that need to be answered as part of an effort to get to the truth," Kucinich said.

He made clear he was not yet pointing the finger. "I don't know what happened. I'm not alleging anything here. But I sure want to find out how it happened."

But Kucinich hopes that inquiries in a committee hearing would clarify the information and answer questions.

"I think we need to talk to the people who were involved in making those transactions in order to try to figure out why they were made, for example, American Airlines and United Airlines stock." Kucinich said.

At least two FBI agents have been previously charged for their smaller roles in the insider trading. The NY Times has reported on the cases, but larger coverage of the issue has been largely ignored by the mainstream media, and no larger probe has been underway until now.
Kucinich has also promised to hold hearings on the health of 9/11 first responders. He has already met with a number of rescue workers to hear their stories and is in the process of bringing forth information to committee.

The Congressman warned, however, that his seat has been hotly contested by 'Cleveland corporate interests' who have sunk millions into defeating Kucinich. He pleaded for help to win his local election, but remained steadfast.

"I can't be bought and I can't be bossed." Kucinich said. "I'm going to keep speaking the truth, I'm going to keep seeking the truth, and as long as people are there to support that, I'll be in Congress."

In New York City, the Department of Homeland Security is training New York City firefighters to assist in gathering intelligence information during routine inspections and emergencies.
In November, the Associated Press reported that in New York, Homeland Security was testing a program called the Fire Service Intelligence Enterprise (FSIE) to help identify "material or behavior that may indicate terrorist activities."

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) and Homeland Security hosted a September 2007 conference in New York City to discuss plans for the new intelligence program. There, chief officers from fire departments in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and 12 other U.S. cities met with NYC fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta and officials from the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Surveillance. "Real-time intelligence and information leads to a heightened state of situational awareness," Scoppetta said at the conference. "And situational awareness is key to saving lives."

"We are not training firefighters to be intelligence gatherers or special agents," says Jack Tomarchio, Homeland Security's deputy undersecretary of intelligence and surveillance. "We are helping to provide crucial information to those people who are often the first responders."

On December 6th, I and others were bull horning FOX Television on Bundy. I stepped on the sidewalk and driveway in front of the building and spoke my piece about 9-11 Truth through the bull horn. I was well within my rights. In California, anywhere that is open to the public, is consequently open to free speech.

The security personnel surrounded me and harassed me, violating my civil rights. Each time I walked away from them, they again surrounded me and harassed me, continuing to violate my civil rights. They called the police and made a citizens arrest for... BATTERY!

I spent over 24 hours in jail. After meeting with a hearing officer, the ludicrous battery charge was dropped, but I have been charged with trespassing, which will not stick. The arraignment is Monday, Feb 25th at 8:30am. I would love for as much support at the court house as possible. Realizing this is a work day for most, plus it's early in the morning and will probably not be resolved for hours, I do not take lightly the inconvenience and hassle this is for most of you.

There is no doubt that we will prevail, and I am counter-charging FOX Television with violation of my civil rights. I will pursue this as far as it has to go. 9-11 Truth will go where this case goes, in front of a jury if need be. Let's stand together against FOX!

WASHINGTON - Amtrak will start randomly screening passengers' carry-on bags this week in a new security push that includes officers with automatic weapons and bomb-sniffing dogs patrolling platforms and trains.

The initiative, to be announced by the railroad on Tuesday, is a significant shift for Amtrak. Unlike the airlines, it has had relatively little visible increase in security since the 2001 terrorist attacks, a distinction that has enabled it to attract passengers eager to avoid airport hassles.

Amtrak officials insist their new procedures won't hold up the flow of passengers.

"On-time performance is a key element of Amtrak service. We are fully mindful of that. This is not about train delays," Bill Rooney, the railroad's vice president for security strategy and special operations, told The Associated Press.

Nor will the moves require passengers to arrive at stations far in advance, officials said. Passengers who are selected randomly for the screening will be delayed no more than a couple of minutes, Amtrak chief executive Alex Kummant said.

Former Mexican President Urges U.S. to Embrace "Solidarity" Not "Selfishness" as North American Union Unfolds

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox indicated that he would favor the emergence of a world government and also reaffirmed his support for a North American Union during a conversation with WeAreChange.org.

Fox told cameras, "I would love to see the process [of World Government] adapted to the local situation."

Fox played down concerns that sovereignty would be compromised under NAFTA and other agreements facilitating integration-- asserting claims that Germany and Great Britain had lost no sovereignty under the EU.

He indicated that the 'original agreement' under the SPP (Security & Prosperity Partnership) had not moved forward at the pace that he had desired, but that progress was underway. Fox expressed hopes that the next U.S. administration could reassess and advance the agreement.

Former President Fox made the statements during a question and answer session at a joint event by the National Endowment for Democracy and the Foreign Policy Association in New York. (CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO OF FULL SPEECH) Incredibly, after the speech, it was Fox who approached reporter Luke Rudkowski for further discussion (after Rudkowski asked an initial question).

Fox denied that plans for the Trans-Texas Corridor and the NAFTA super-highway were being advanced in any official capacity-- making clear that the highways were "not a government project" but that he "welcomed" the link between the nations.

Fox also called the United States "a very selfish country," clearly bolstering support for any aid or benefit to Mexico and making clear his favorable opinion of globalization. Vicente Fox instead urged "solidarity" between the nations.

Along these lines, a White House proposal has recently surfaced that would grant $1.4 billion to 'secure' Mexico's borders. Current Mexican President Felipe Calderon recently called for the U.S. to continue to welcome migrants, stating that the two nations' economies were already 'interdependent' and that 'closing the doors' would cause harm.

Vicente Fox previously discussed the possibility of a unified currency similar to the Euro with Larry King, indicating that a "trade union for all of the Americas" (ALCA) had been proposed by President Bush and himself. Fox then clarified, "Well, that would be long, long term. I think the processes to go, first step into is trading agreement. And then further on, a new vision, like we are trying to do with NAFTA."

Fox had also commented on the Daily Show that globalization and NAFTA had "absolutely" benefited both the U.S. and Mexico. He said that he favored a 'long term' approach towards a North American Union.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich promised a group of first responders that he would work towards a hearing on 9/11 health that would start from sworn statements and other compiled information about the health conditions of rescue workers suffering from ground zero exposure.

"This might take awhile, but we need to start gathering information," Kucinich said. "If you'll work with me to build the hearings, I'll commit to one major hearing that will focus on all the concerns that you have."

It was determined 9/11 first responders who brought about the meeting. David Miller, a ground zero worker and former national guardsman now suffering from mesothelioma, pressured Rep. Kucinich to hear his case and those of dozens of other rescue workers. According to Kucinich, Miller convinced him the meeting was necessary.

Many blame the 9/11 health epidemic on the EPA for making falsely-reassuring statements about the air quality and outright lying-- under apparent White House pressure-- to declare the air 'safe to breath' and reopen Wall Street in the days after 9/11.

The meetings are preliminary, though-- for now. Kucinich will examine the official statements of the EPA and other agencies and begin collecting stories, medical records and other data from rescue workers. Kucinich hopes that gathering enough affidavits and statements from those affected could lead to a substantial congressional hearing.

"This is the beginning of the dialogue. I'm a lot better informed now" Kucinich said. "Give me a few basic cases to start with."

However, at least one first responder at the meeting fears that the time passed since 9/11 will only work against those who seek aid and recognition-- as it may become increasingly difficult for some rescue workers to prove their ties to ground zero rescue efforts and claim any benefits-- if and when they are ever granted.

To date, government and city authorities have rejected a correlation between ground zero dust and the afflictions so many 9/11 workers are now suffering from, despite the fact that several individuals have already died from the dust's effects.

One such individual, Hassan Emmetts, a national guardsman and 9/11 first responder, has passed away in the two weeks since he attended the meeting with Kucinich. Clearly, his death only highlights the gravity of the issues that first responders face.

John Feal, of the FealGoodFoundation.com, called the meeting "a step in the right direction." His foundation has helped to support individuals while working towards a solution for the widening health epidemic that the media continues to ignore.

David Miller also urged for help with basic living expenses while the potential hearing develops. Kucinich said he would try to help.

With political solutions still an uphill battle, many activists groups, including WeAreChange.org and the FealGoodFoundation.com, have taken fundraising and support efforts in their own hands.

WeAreChange.org held a "money bomb" fundraising effort on Feb. 16 in effort to help rescue workers with medical bills and living expenses. The grassroots website www.1stResponders1st.com helped to drive donations and to increase private support from individuals.

More than $10,000 was raised-- the money will go not only towards medical costs, but to living assistance and other needs. Many rescue workers have become too ill to work, and the lost wages have broken families, inflicted poverty and led to other hardships.

Meanwhile, the FealGoodFoundation.com held its second annual 'Doo Wop' Fundraiser Dance which aimed to raise much-needed funds as well as to spotlight the issues that face first responders.

These groups, among others, are working to "do what the government won't"-- and call on the public to support the rescue workers who were readily lionized as heroes on 9/11 but are now slipping through the cracks. The groups also raise awareness through frequent demonstrations at ground zero and many other efforts.

As many of our readers know, long after the dust settled at ground zero, our nation's first responders are still feeling the toxic effects of that dust-- as some 70% of 9/11 rescue workers are sick and dying.

Now 1stResponders1st.com is trying to generate money and support for those heroes in a "money bomb" on February 16th.

An estimated 50,000 fire fighters, police, EMTs, national guard, military and other volunteers are suffering from exposure to ground zero-- and stand to be forgotten by the country they aided in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Lung problems, leukemia & other cancers, including asbestosis have caused too many of our heroes to become deathly ill. On top of that, many 9/11 heroes have been too sick to work and have received NO benefits or other help from either local or national government efforts.

The FealGoodFoundation.com donated about $100,000 to first responders last year, but it needs even more money this year. WeAreChange.org raised more than $14,000 for responders last year and has spent a lot of time spreading the word about their needs.

Police and Fire Fighters, how can your brothers be allowed to slip through the cracks?

Americans, how can the heroes who heeded the call on the day of 9/11 be now allowed to be forgotten and forsaken?

9/11 and it's aftermath has left such a horrible catastrophic trail of human turmoil on yesterday's heroes, one can not comprehend how anyone can afford to survive with mounting medical,prescription,and doctor bills.
