The fence around the public demonstration zone outside the Democratic National Convention will be chicken wire or chain link, authorities revealed in U.S. District Court today.
That may allow protestors to be seen and heard by delegates going in and out of the Pepsi Center during the convention.
But the American Civil Liberties Union and several advocacy groups have filed an amended complaint to their lawsuit against the U.S. Secret Service and the city and county of Denver that says protestors and demonstrators may have their First Amendment rights violated by security restrictions.

Agency wants to throw out WTC rebuilding schedule
NEW YORK - The World Trade Center's owner on Monday proposed scrapping the schedule and budget for the prolonged rebuilding of the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying nearly every project is delayed and over budget and that previous estimates are unrealistic.
Christopher Ward, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, didn't set new deadlines and budgets for the multibillion-dollar redevelopment at the destroyed trade center complex. He proposed that a committee of developers and government agencies involved in the project meet to set new, "clear and achievable timelines" by the end of September.
U.S. escalating covert operations against Iran - report

The article by reporter Seymour Hersh, from the magazine's July 7 and 14 issue, centers around a highly classified Presidential Finding signed by Bush which by U.S. law must be made known to Democratic and Republican House and Senate leaders and ranking members of the intelligence committees.
McCain: It doesn't matter that I don't know cost of gas

Senator John McCain said he can't remember the last time he pumped gasoline or the cost of a gallon of a gas in an interview with the Orange County Register earlier this week.
The OC Register's Martin Wisckol asked McCain when he had last pumped his own gas, to which McCain replied:
"Oh, I don’t remember. Now there’s Secret Service protection. But I’ve done it for many, many years. I don’t recall and frankly, I don’t see how it matters," McCain said.
The document, which ended up in e-mail limbo, without official status, was the E.P.A.’s answer to a 2007 Supreme Court ruling that required it to determine whether greenhouse gases represent a danger to health or the environment, the officials said.
This week, more than six months later, the E.P.A. is set to respond to that order by releasing a watered-down version of the original proposal that offers no conclusion. Instead, the document reviews the legal and economic issues presented by declaring greenhouse gases a pollutant.
Over the past five days, the officials said, the White House successfully put pressure on the E.P.A. to eliminate large sections of the original analysis that supported regulation, including a finding that tough regulation of motor vehicle emissions could produce $500 billion to $2 trillion in economic benefits over the next 32 years. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.
Right to Free Speech on Private Property Extended - NEW JERSEY
New Jersey has joined California in expanding individual rights on private property such as shopping malls.
To date, the New Jersey Supreme Court has provided the most extensive and clearly articulated model for rejecting the traditional state-action requirements by holding mall owners accountable for violations of the state’s free-speech protections. The New Jersey Supreme Court interpreted the free-speech provisions of the state constitution as extending to private owners of shopping malls as well as to state action in New Jersey Coalition Against War in the Middle East v. J.M.B. Realty Corp. (1994). Before deciding New Jersey Coalition Against the War, the New Jersey Supreme Court had decided State v. Schmid (1980), which required the court to balance individual expression rights with property rights in the context of free speech at a privately owned university. Schmid articulated three factors: (1) the nature, purpose and primary use of such private property; (2) the extent and nature of the public’s invitation to use that property; and (3) the purpose of the expressive activity undertaken on such property in relation to both the private and public use of the property. After applying the Schmid test, the New Jersey Supreme Court reasoned in New Jersey Coalition that because the mall owners “have intentionally transformed their property into a public square or market, a public gathering place, a downtown business district, a community,” they cannot later deny their own implied invitation to use the space as it was clearly intended.
Judge Martin Greenberg, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, in Hudson County, has issued a landmark opinion upholding the right of a citizens’ group to distribute campaign literature within a private condominium complex. The court’s opinion, in Guttenberg Taxpayers and Rentpayers Association v. Galaxy Towers Condominium Association, sets an important national precedent regarding free speech rights on private residential property. The defendant Association manages the Galaxy Towers Condominium, home to 24 percent of the registered voters in the town of Guttenberg, and 89 percent of the registered voters of district six, one of six election districts in the town. Association rules prohibited outside groups, as well as residents of Galaxy Towers, from distributing flyers within the condominium complex. However, the rules permitted the Association President to distribute Association approved flyers under the doors of Galaxy residents. Prior to most elections, the Association distributed flyers supporting candidates that it had endorsed, and conducted get-out-the-vote drives. As a result, although Association backed candidates have consistently lost by substantial majorities in districts 1-5, they have nevertheless won their respective elections because of the huge majorities they garner in district 6, the district in which Galaxy Towers is located.Plaintiffs brought suit in 1994, seeking a declaration that the Association’s refusal to permit them to distribute flyers within the condominium complex violated the state constitutional guarantee of free speech. The trial court dismissed the complaint, but the Appellate Division reversed in 1995, finding that the important constitutional issues could not be resolved without a full factual record. Judge Greenberg issued his decision after hearing two days of testimony.
Judge Greenberg held that the Association’s own political activities amounted to a “dedication of this property from private to political and thus public use” at election time. He therefore found that the Association’s refusal to allow leafletting by any other group violated the state constitution, reasoning that “a level playing field requires equal access to this condominium because it has become in essence a political ‘company town,’ in which political access controlled by the Association is the only ‘game in town.’”
ACLU volunteer attorney Frank Askin, a professor in the Constitutional Litigation Clinic at Rutgers Law School, hailed the decision as “the most far-reaching in the country regarding the rights of free speech on private residential property.” He added that the result in this case “reflects the strong commitment of the New Jersey courts to protecting freedom of expression even on private property.” The defendants have indicated that they will appeal.

A camera operator arrested at a June 12 demonstration is considering filing a complaint against the Vancouver Police Department. “The more I think about it, I’m not just going to lie down here,” Michael Barcellona told the Straight by phone. “They made an example of me, and if I can make an example of them, I will.”
Barcellona was arrested outside the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre while filming a protest against former U.S. secretary of state Colin Powell, who was speaking inside. As the Straight went to press, Barcellona was waiting to hear if Crown counsel will press charges.
Barcellona claims that although he was invited to film the demonstration by a group protesting Powell’s visit, he was acting as a journalist. The VPD’s Const. Tim Fanning earlier told the Straight that Barcellona was in the middle of the protest when he was arrested for resisting removal from the property.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain was asked Thursday his opinion of an attempt to impeach President Bush. His answer shouldn't surprise anyone.
If nothing else, the fact that a question was even asked shows that McCain's campaign doesn't do as rigorous a job as President Bush's handlers do in weeding out unfriendly questioners from town hall meetings.
"I appreciate this opportunity, Mr. McCain, to ask you a question," said a man attending the town hall meeting at Xavier University in Ohio. "Part one is in regards to the articles of impeachment brought up by Kucinich for Bush. What your stance is on that as far as manipulated intelligence to form the policy. And then the second is Professor Gatsby from Arizona was outside your office for sixteen days and didn't eat solid foods. I was wondering if you agreed to meet with him for the two hours he requested or does he have to be a corporate owner with multi-million dollars to meet with you."
The Republican senator laughed.
"I do not agree with quote 'articles of impeachment,'" McCain said, in reference to a resolution introduced by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH).
The second question was about an Arizona professor and 9/11 conspiracy theorist who staged a hunger strike outside McCain's office requesting a meeting with the senator. McCain said the professor ended his strike although he was refused an audience.
"I did not" meet with him, McCain said. "Because I don't take well to threats."

Opponents like the United States Business and Industry Council counter that acceptance of foreign investment is short-sighted and will ultimately lead to the loss of American jobs as companies shift operations out of the country.
The terrorists in the federal government are continuing their push to implement a cashless economic enslavement system. According to a legislative notice from the U.S. Senate, a new Housing Bill (HR 3221) contains a provision that will require nearly every online credit card transaction to be reported directly to the Internal Revenue Service. The insanity of this is obvious and it is nothing more than a way to give the government a means to track and trace as many private transactions as humanly possible. Previously, Visa's CEO has stated that it is their goal to establish a cashless society by the year 2012. As technology increases, a greater number of businesses are accepting credit card payments. It wasn’t too long ago that fast food restaurants wouldn’t accept anything but cash for payment, now almost all of them accept credit cards. We are also starting to see biometrics utilized as a way to facilitate transactions. The bottom line is that there is an agenda at play to setup a cashless system that will allow the elite to take total control over the global economy. These people want to eliminate privacy in mutual exchanges and this is another step in doing just that.

Even as New York City battles thousands of ground zero workers over their health claims in federal court, New York State is making more workers eligible for health care benefits.
The State Legislature has passed a bill that will make hundreds of public service workers who labored at the World Trade Center site during the nine-month cleanup after the attacks of Sept. 11 eligible for state disability payments.
Aides to Gov. David A. Paterson said on Wednesday that as many as 1,800 such workers who had already been denied disability benefits could now be eligible to receive them.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City health officials want every adult in the Bronx to voluntarily take an HIV test within three years.
The ambitious three-year campaign is expected to be announced Thursday.
Health officials say while Manhattan has the highest incidence of HIV and AIDS, the Bronx has the highest AIDS-related death rate.
They attribute the high death rate to Bronx residents who wait too long to take the test and find out they’re infected to treat the virus effectively. If caught early enough, the disease can be managed with medication.
Medical care givers in emergency rooms and clinics in the Bronx will begin making voluntary testing routine.

Leaked confidential NIST documents concerning the investigation into the collapse of WTC 7, the 47-storey skyscraper that was not hit by a plane but imploded in under seven seconds on 9/11, reveal that an "unusual" event preceded the collapse of the building - a "jet of flames" that shot out of several windows after most of the fire had already died down.
The documents - entitled Confidential and Predecisonal Document NIST Report on Building 7 - form the preamble for a long-awaited final verdict on what caused a structurally reinforced building to fall like a controlled demolition despite suffering relatively minimal fire damage.
The report states, "At 4:38 p.m. all of the windows between 13-44A and 13-47C were open, and the fires responsible for opening the windows had died down to the point where they could no longer be observed."
"Just prior to the collapse of the building at 5:20:52 p.m. a jet of flames was pushed from windows in the same area. The event that caused this unusual behavior has not been identified."

Troy Molde was woken up by Lakeville police in Minnesota at 3 am. on Thursday. Lakeville police stopped in front of his residence when they noticed the garage door was open. The officers rang the doorbell and knocked on the front door but when this didn’t work they felt that this was just cause to enter his garage and investigate further. According to the Pioneer Press, the officers told Molde his garage door was open, the TV was on, keys to his truck were left in the ignition and the door to his house was ajar. Police said the intrusion was justified because the officers’ initial door knocks went unanswered. Police went inside to check if anything was wrong, Sgt. Jim Puncochar said.
The day after the incident Troy spoke about his ordeal on the Chris Baker radio show. He talks about what he did prior to the incident “…my car was in my garage with my keys in the ignition but I’ve always done that so I don’t lose my key. Normally I shut my garage but I just happened to forget to shut it that night.” He also disputes the some of the claims made by police and media “…the article says that the door was ajar, it wasn’t, it has a spring on it so it wouldn’t stay ajar and so the door was closed.” He goes on to say “…they actually came out again last night for damage control and the Sargent said that the story was they looked in the window and saw a child sleeping on the floor which wasn’t the case. It was never mentioned when they were there and it was a hardwood floor …when the sergeant came out last time he apologized, well not really apologized but he said heres our story it kind of pissed me off when the story changed.”
Troy feels that his constitutional rights were violated and under the fourth amendment which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures he may be right. The police retort that they were there to prevent a crime. The mainstream media has been covering this story since it broke but at the same time they’ve spinning it with the “what if” scenarios verses the basic questions they should be asking. Is it constitutional for a officer to walk into my home without probable cause? Do I have rights and were they violated? Police officers swore an oath to uphold the constitution and at what point does prevention become violation.

Like a teetotaler crashing a New Year’s Eve bash, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has asked members of the boating public who are out enjoying their fun in the sun to keep an eye out for possible maritime terrorist activity.
With recent polls showing Americans are suffering from security fatigue, it may be difficult to get boaters to listen to Secretary Michael Chertoff’s pitch to join a waterway version of “Neighborhood Watch.” Most of us see time on the water as a way to get away from the stresses of our daily lives, not to add to them.
Update on NY Reporter Arrests during Laura Bush Event
As you know last month two We Are Change New York Reporters were arrested during a Laura and Jenna Bush event at the 92’nd street YMCA. Gary Talis was falsely charged with assault charges after questioning Laura & Jenna Bush outside the event upon their exit. Matthew Lepacek was falsely charged with disorderly conduct for failure to present identification after being escorted out of the event, after having interrupted the closing moments of the speech inside to inform the attendees (most of which were teachers and education advocates) of the Bush family’s long history of war crimes.
Thanks to the donations from the patriot community We Are Change has secured council to defend against these charges. Gary Talis has pleaded not guilty to the pending assault charges. Due to the pending Talis case, specific updates regarding the case will be disclosed as advised by counsel.
As of 6/20/2008 the criminal disorderly conduct charges against Matthew Lepacek have been dismissed. Week Long Military Urban Warfare Drills Hijack Denver Streets in Preparation for Terror
Asking people about the un-marked, black military helicopters in the streets of Downtown Denver were no longer met with blank stares and scoffs, but with finger pointing and wild eyed expressions of dis-belief earlier today.
Special operation forces have been conducting landings, and maneuvers inside the downtown city limits of the mile high city for the past 2 days. According to the (AP) these exercises will be ongoing until Friday.
MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.-based U.S. Special Operations Command spokesman Lt. Steve Ruh says the flights are a culmination of a two-week training exercise that is part of the “war on terror.” One official told KDVR-TV the flights are not security preparations for the Democratic National Convention in August.
These exercises have been conducted at multiple locations throughout the city. Two major staging grounds are a large abandoned rubber factory on the south side of Denver, and also the former Children’s hospital at Downey and 21st street. These facilities have been placed under military control with the blessing of the city according to Lt. Ruh spokesperson for the unnamed branch of the military conducting these ops city wide.
The image of helicopters loading and unloading Special Forces units in Black Hawk helicopters will ultimately prove costly for the city. One night is bad enough in a free Constitutional Republic, but for an additional 2 -3 days the city will undoubtedly be met with harsh criticism from the public.
Admittedly watching the helicopters take off and fly did stir images of American strength and pride, but these quickly vanished when a recent report from journalist Paul Joseph Watson comes to mind revealing soldiers are being asked if they would “kill Americans”. One can’t help but wonder if those soldiers flying over head are the ones that said “Yes”.
That answer quickly came when in an extremely low pass from a MH-6 “Little Bird” with troops hanging off the sides dropped a red glow stick adorned with a military issue U.S. Army patch onto our position atop a parking garage our camera’s had positioned themselves to catch the action. Now whether or not this glow stick meant we just got ‘fragged’ by a drill grenade, or if it was just a friendly gesture by our boys in the military is unknown, but coming with in feet of our position you can rest assured they are deadly accurate from that height.

DENVER -- The sight of Blackhawk helicopters scouring the skies over Denver on Monday and Tuesday night looked like a scene from a movie. Instead, it was an anti-terror drill that surprised and concerned residents, who had not been warned about the exercise.
The choppers came in low, right on top of the buildings in downtown Denver, creating plenty of noise and attracting loads of concerned looks."It looked to me like they were Blackhawks and they were trying to practice dropoffs and pickups," said Baerbel Merrill, who saw the Blackhawks.
The drill was a multi-agency operation involving special forces in the military and Denver police."It actually prepares us for the global war on terrorism, to go into an urban environment," said Lt. Steve Ruh, a spokesman for the U.S. Special Operations Command. "It will help us respond better if the need calls for us to come in."

A letter sent to Stewart Howe of We Are Change L.A. by the L.A. Office of the City Attorney announcing a scheduled court date for Section P242 battery against David Frum.
It looks like Stewart Howe will get his day in court. Earlier this year, Howe was assaulted by the neocon and war criminal David Frum, who is infamous for coining the term “axis of evil,” used to demonize Iraq prior to bombing the country and killing over a million Iraqis. Howe, a member of We Are Change L.A., attempted to ask Frum a few questions during the L.A. Times Festival of Books on April 26, 2008, and in response the neocon and former Bush administration economic speechwriter assaulted Howe.
“Frum told Howe, ‘The one thing I regret from our last conversation is that I didn’t say to you what my friend Christopher Hitchens said… which is, you should fuck off.’ [expletive is reportedly a direct quote]” reports Aaron Dykes of the Jones Report. “According to Howe, David Frum then got up from behind the book signing table and swung at Stewart and his camera while he was phrasing a question about the unraveling 9/11 cover-up and potential criminal charges.” Frum insisted Howe turn off his camera and leave the event as he “smacked the camera.” Replied Howe, “I will not go away. I will not turn off the camera. We are in public. Are you worried, perhaps, about the criminal liability of being a partner to mass murder after the fact? You know that is a real concern because the truth is coming out.” Howe insists Frum attempted to break his camera. “I don’t want to be on your camera,” he said.
In a recent email sent to Mr. Dykes, Howe said his attorney, a former Marine, informed him that the L.A. City Attorneys Office is “heavily laden” with “liberal left leaning” staff and are interested in proceeding with assault charges against Frum. “He has also informed me that it may become a case transcending assault/battery and enter in no small way into the area of Frum, along with event security/UCLA conspiring to deprive a citizen journalist of First Amendment Rights.” Howe indicated, however, that his attorney has “limited experience in such matters.”
Obviously, the fact that the City Attorneys Office has taken up the case is a victory for the 9/11 truth movement, especially in the wake of 9/11 truth activist Mark Dice’s experience with neocon talk show host Michael Reagan, who has threatened to have Dice killed for sending truth DVDs and other materials to troops stationed in Iraq. Hopefully, Frum’s potential conviction on assault charges will send a message to the neocons: this is still America, there still is a First Amendment, no matter how enervated, and assaulting journalists will not stand, at least not for the moment.

This is Jonathan from We Are Change Colorado and I have launched a massive campaign to get back on youtube with full force. I have setup multiple accounts to which I will have mirrors of the We Are Change videos.
I have found in the We Are Change Colorado Archives a video of a street action when Sander Hicks was with us where the police were called on us and a cop showed up, all of this I have caught on video tape, and the police officer told us that handing out DVD’s for free was considered literature and was protected by the 1st amendment. THIS WAS ON THE 16th street mall!!! Rob just got arrested for doing this and I have video that will show that the cops were breaking the laws they knew were in place 3 months prior.

Mr. Colin Powell should not have been allowed into the country as Canada has strict laws that bar entry when there are reasonable grounds to believe a person has either been involved in the commission of war crimes or crimes against humanity or been a senior member of a government that has engaged in gross human rights violations. Mr. Powell's complicity in Depleted Uranium use, extraordinary rendition, the use of torture and inhuman treatment, indiscriminate killing of civilians etc... makes him inadmissible into Canada. Once a person credibly accused of complicity in torture, such as Colin Powell enters the country, Canadamust either prosecute of extradite to another country willing to prosecute.
Lawyers Against War had put Canadian Immigration Minister Diane Finley and the Prime Minister on notice of Canada’s duty to bar entry or to arrest and prosecute Colin Powell and received no response. Unfortunately it was left to concerned citizens to step up to promote adherence to the law.
WeAreChange members saw an advertisement to Powell's engagement in the Vancouver Sun claiming no questions were off limits. Powell was in town to talk about Leadership in the 21st Century.
Three members of WeAreChange and a member of Vancouver 911 Truth purchased tickets and attended in order to ask Powell about Depleted Uranium use, in which he is on the record for saying is safe.
