Congress Passes Emergency Bill To Prevent Government Shut Down

The U.S. Congress approved a stop-gap funding bill late Wednesday night that averts a looming federal government shutdown and accord to the main-stream media “provides urgently needed money to help battle an outbreak of the Zika virus.”

Averting an election-year crisis, Congress sent President Barack Obama a bill to keep the government operating through Dec. 9 and provide $1.1 billion in to reportedly battle the Zika virus.

The House cleared the measure by a 342-85 vote. Passage of the bipartisan legislation came shortly after Republicans and Democrats ended a months-long fight over whether Washington should provide aid to the city of Flint, Michigan, as it struggles with a crisis over contaminated drinking water.

The spending measure was the Hill’s last major to-do item before the election in November, and its completion keeps the U.S. government operating from Oct. 1, the start of the new fiscal year, until Dec. 9, and allows lawmakers to jet home in order to campaign to save their jobs.

The bill caps months of wrangling over money to being used to fight the mosquito-borne Zika virus, and also includes $500 million for rebuilding assistance to flood-ravaged Louisiana and other states, however to the informed citizen these additions are only there to make this late season debt increase more acceptable.

The White House said Obama will sign the measure and praised the progress on Flint.

The temporary spending bill sped through the House shortly after the chamber passed a water projects bill containing the breakthrough compromise on Flint. The move to add the Flint package to the water projects bill, negotiated by top leaders in both parties and passed Wednesday by a 284-141 vote, was the key to lifting the Democratic blockade on the separate spending bill.

The deal averts a potential federal shutdown and comes just three days before deadline. It defuses a lengthy, frustrating battle over Zika spending. Democrats claimed a partial victory on Flint while the GOP-dominated Louisiana delegation won a down payment on Obama’s $2.6 billion request for their state.

The politicking and power plays enormously complicated what should have been a routine measure to avoid an election-eve government shutdown.

The temporary government-wide spending bill had stalled in the Senate Tuesday over Democrats’ demands that the measure include $220 million in Senate-passed funding to help Flint and other cities deal with lead-tainted water. The Flint issue arose as the final stumbling block after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., added the flood aid for Louisiana to the spending bill.

Democrats argued it was unfair that the water crisis in Flint has gone on for more than a year with no assistance, while Louisiana and other states are getting $500 million for floods that occurred just last month. Democrats played a strong hand in the negotiations and had leverage because Republicans controlling the House and Senate were eager to avoid a politically harmful shutdown six weeks before the election.

In a series of carefully orchestrated maneuvers after the Senate approved the temporary funding, the House passed a wide-ranging water resources bill containing $170 million to assist Flint by a vote of 399-25.

Democrats have demanded action on the crisis, which stems from dangerous levels of lead in Flint’s drinking water.

A Senate version of the bill contains $220 million for Flint and other cities with problem water systems.

The two chambers will have to hammer out compromise legislation after the Nov. 8 presidential and congressional elections. Wednesday’s flurry of activity in Congress came as lawmakers rushed to recess this week until after the elections.

Flint’s drinking water became tainted when the city, then under state control, began drawing from the Flint River in 2014 to save money. Regulators failed to ensure the water was treated properly and lead from aging pipes leached into the water supply. As many as 12,000 children have been exposed to lead in water, officials say.

There were other winners and losers in the scramble to produce the legislation.

Ted Cruz, R-Texas, failed to win a provision to block the U.S. government from transferring the Commerce Department’s role in governing the internet’s domain name addressing systems to a nonprofit consortium known as ICANN.

And Democrats failed to use the bill to reverse a ban engineered last year by McConnell on proposals to allow the Securities and Exchange Commission to require publicly-traded corporations to disclose political spending permitted under the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision allowing unlimited political spending by businesses.

The spending bill also includes full-year funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs. That measure permits veterans with war injuries to receive in vitro fertilization treatments. A longtime ban on such treatments — demanded in the early 1990s by anti-abortion lawmakers concerned about destroyed embryos — has been lifted.

Gang Members Implicate U.S. Gov’t in Dumping Crates of Guns in Chicago

Reported on by. Isaac Davis, Staff Writer For The Waking Times

There is a well-documented history of the U.S. government supplying weapons and arms to both friends and foe for political purposes and for profit. In addition to publicly known global arms deals to U.S. political allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia, revelations about the rise of ISIS indicate that U.S. arms and military trainees have been a critical factor in the rise of the terror group.

From 2006 to 2011 the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms ran a gun smuggling operation into Mexico to ostensibly dismantle Mexican drug gangs, accomplishing the precise opposite however, in what has affectionately become known as Fast and Furious. Further back in time we have covert operations like Oliver North’s Iran Contra scandal of the mid 1980’s, and America’s involvement in arming rebels in Central America to destabilize uncooperative governments. The list goes on.

Former L.A. police narcotics officer Michael Ruppert alleged in the mid 1990’s that the CIA was directly involved in running drugs throughout the Unites States, corroborating information presented in the book, Dark Alliance, by investigative journalist Gary Webb whose death in 1994 by two gunshot wounds to the head was deemed a suicide. Michael Ruppert committed suicide in 2014.

“I will tell you, Director Deutch,” Ruppert said, “emphatically and without equivocation that the agency has dealt drugs throughout this country for a long time.” ~Mike Ruppert

‘Freeway’ Ricky Ross was California’s most successful drug kingpin during the explosion of the crack epidemic in the 1980’s, and later implicated the CIA as the source for cocaine. Presidents Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton are all implicated in the revelations of drug-running in the U.S. during the ’80’s an ’90’s in Mena, Arkansas, which also links the Arkansas State Police to smuggling, culminating in the suspicious murder of Vince Foster.

Again, the list goes on and on, however with the recent rise of violence in Chicago involving over 3000 shooting victims in 2016 so far (January 1st to September 13th), it appears that another case of U.S. sponsored gun-smuggling and intentional destruction of inner-city communities may be at play.

In a publicly available video testimony an ex-Chicago gang member describes how crates of fully automatic firearms would regularly be found in alley ways and back streets of urban Chicago at the early hours of the morning, giving free, illegal weapons to the gangs of Chi-Town, which is now often referred to as Chiraq because it is a war zone.

He refers to it as a diabolical plot, a plan, affecting only low-income areas, pointing out that many of the firearms being found were class-3 automatic firearms, which can only be purchased at certain retailers under intense federal scrutiny. He notes that criminals aren’t allowed to buy firearms in the first place, yet the guns are everywhere, so where are they coming from?

Watch the full interview here:

BBC News recently produced a short documentary about gun violence in Chicago with gang members saying things such as, ‘it’s like crates of guns got dropped off.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun restrictions in the United States with some of the highest rates of gun violence. Gang members are not buying them legally, and the police are pulling guns off the street on a daily basis, so where are they coming from?

Something doesn’t add up.

There is No Democracy or Consent in Government

As children, we’re taught that “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” This is the widely-accepted fundamental prerequisite for the basis of government in a true democracy. Yet if we examine this assumed premise in practice, it quickly proves that there is no actual “consent of the governed”, and therefore no consensual basis for the legitimacy of government. It is, in fact, tyranny.

Ask yourself:
Were you ever fully informed of all “the laws” and their definitions?
Were you formally asked if you understood and consented to all of them?
Were you given a fair and voluntary offer by those presuming to rule you?

Nope. It was all imposed upon us through brainwashing, violence, and threats, right? This is no more consensual than a child “consenting” to living with an abusive parent simply because they have been brainwashed and have no means of establishing independence.

But don’t just take my word for it. The famous Judge Andrew P. Napolitano lays it out clearly in the following speech:

“Today we know that our government has such profound disregard for our natural rights that it tramples them to extremes beyond which even George Orwell could have imagined in “1984”… If Thomas Jefferson was right and St. Thomas Aquinas was right, that these rights come from our humanity and not from the government, things like thought and speech and privacy and travel, how can the government trample them?

Well, the theory of government is that we have surrendered some of our rights to the government so that the government will protect the rights we have not surrendered. That’s the idea of ‘the government derives it powers from the consent of the governed’. Does anyone in this room know anyone now living who consented to the government? The answer is ‘NO’. It’s inconceivable that anybody still living was around when the Constitution was enacted and consented to it. So right off the bat, the idea that “the government derives its power from the consent of the governed’ is, like government itself, a fiction. The FICTION is that we have consented to the surrender of our rights. The REALITY is that our rights have been STOLEN from us because the government monopolizes force.”

Now that we understand that this fundamental premise of government is a fiction, let’s go even deeper in deconstructing the premise of democracy. Stay with me here…

In order for there to be social “consent of the governed”, there must be a legitimate democracy, right? Furthermore, in order for there to be a legitimate democracy which works in society’s best interests, its people must be well educated, healthy, and free from the shackles of threats of violence and coercion, right? Well, as we’ve seen, society has been, and is continuously, hindered by government in achieving these basic standards. Consequently, any democratic government under these conditions has not, does not, and will not be a catalyst for society to significantly evolve when its population is largely comprised of poorly educated, unhealthy, and encumbered people all of whom are controlled by political, banking, and corporate psychopaths. However, if society does meet this obviously logical criteria and IS full of sovereign, healthy, well-informed people, the institution of government becomes completely unnecessary! The democratic model is then relegated to its only real practical function: maintaining an occasional consensus in local voluntary relationships.

We now see that social “consent of the governed” is a fiction, the US Government is not a democracy, but rather an oligarchy, and representative democracy is an inherently flawed means of social consensus under these conditions.

So maybe it’s time we stopped participating in the lies based on wishful thinking, and focused on new ways of living instead of trying to fix a broken system.
Maybe it’s better to stop giving our power away to the empty rhetoric of puppet politicians and the monstrosity of government.
Maybe the best way to fundamentally change society for the better is to understand its false foundations so we can build a better local foundation as individuals.

NASA Says Antarctic Ice Growing – What Does It Mean?

“A new NASA study says that an increase in Antarctic snow accumulation that began 10,000 years ago is currently adding enough ice to the continent to outweigh the increased losses from its thinning glaciers.

The research challenges the conclusions of other studies, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) 2013 report, which says that Antarctica is overall losing land ice. (more…)
