Bill Maher has been taking credit for Milo Yiannopoulos’ fall, after interviewing Yiannopoulos on his show “Real Time” days before Milo’s infamous comments were leaked, but Maher’s own past may come back to haunt him. In 1998 Bill Maher defended pedophilia in a much worse way than Yiannopoulos.  These types of jokes aren’t funny to anyone.

Following decisions by CPAC and Simon and Schuster to cut ties with Yiannopoulos after video surfaced of him appearing to defend pedophilia, Maher attempted to take credit for the animosity toward the former Breitbart editor, citing Yiannopoulos’ appearance on his talk show as the beginning of the end of Yiannopoulos’s career.

“By the end of the weekend, by dinnertime Monday, he’s dropped as a speaker at CPAC. Then he’s dropped by Breitbart, and his book deal falls through,” Maher told the New York Times. “As I say, sunlight is the best disinfectant. You’re welcome.”

But Maher may be getting some karma as that same attention may now be coming his way, as a 19-year-old video from his former ABC talk show, “Politically Incorrect,” resurfaced earlier this week. The video features Maher defending Mary Kay Letourneau, a teacher convicted of having sex with a 12-year-old male student. Letourneau and the student went on to have two children together while the boy was a teenager. Letourneau was imprisoned for violating the teenager and committing pedophilia Maher felt that the imprisonment was unjustified an absolutely shocking comment.

“She is in jail because she is in love. That’s how I view it,” Maher said. “Basically, they’re having a family and they’re keeping the mother in jail because she won’t conform to what society feels should be the perfect American family.”

When Maher was challenged by rock singer Henry Rollins and conservative activist Celeste Grieg both said that it was sickening and wasn’t right.

“Absolutely sickening here is a woman who is over 20 years older and she raped this kid.”

Maher responded, “raped common how can a woman rape a man?”

“I think that an older woman can manipulate a young kid and I don’t think it’s really healthy I don’t think it’s healthy for a kid who’s going to be 14 with two children out in the world, I don’t think those children will grow up fairly damaged and that kid is going to grow up fairly damaged.”

“So you are on her side okay,” Maher said.

Maher, although probably joking, has ridiculed Yiannopoulos for his own jokes on pedophilia and it’s a pure example of hypocrisy.
